What Are The Steps To Return To Learn/Cognitive Function?

An equal concern of the recovery from a concussion is the return to full cognitive function.  For athletes this has been termed Return To Learn. Any head trauma potentially changes many aspects of brain function. If the concussed person tries to do too much mental activity or tries to do it too fast it can delay recovery or even cause a regression of their symptoms.

Very few athletes ever ask when can I go back to school or start learning again. In the non-athlete concussed patient this is more important - when can they go back to their regular work responsibilities?

There is a systematic step by step protocol that must be followed to introduce brain activity with out over pushing the brain beyond what it can tolerate.

The absence of symptoms  does not equal full recovery from a concussion.
